Early Original L.& J.G. Stickley

Early Original L.& J.G. Stickley "Onondaga" Slant Arm Morris Chair with Slats to the floor. As with the vast majority of the early Onondaga period, this chair is not signed other than the original paper label of the distributor: "Flint & Company, Pat. No. 212, Finish #4, Order #503, The Franciscan Shops, Apulia, N.Y." The chair is in very good original condition, the finish is original with some light cleaning and typical very light signs of ware expected of a chair which was well cared for since the early 1900's. Light touch-up to the tops of the arms. The upholstery has been replaced to the seat cushion but not yet for the back, we borrowed a cushion from another chair for an example. Measures 3 1/8" wide x 35 5/8" deep x 41 1/4" high with the back in the upright position. Five slats reaching the floor on both sides and 8 exposed tenons. Very good quarter sawed white oak ray flake, a fine chair which seldom comes to market.
